4th Of July Weekend

I hope your extra long weekend was full of good times, while celebrating the United States's birth and honoring our troops. I watched Surprise Homecoming on TLC (which records the reconnection between families and their loved one who was serving in the army). I burst into tears watching the moment when they realize their significant other is home. There were some beautiful moments. However you spent your weekend, I hope you had fun!

Valentines

i remember in elementary school we had a whole day dedicated to celebrating Valentines Day, which ended with an exchange of Scooby Doo, Winnie The Pooh, Spider Man, and Pokemon cards. We all got our fair share of candy and baked goods. i still wake up on Valentines Day to find flowers and a bear from my Dad. While i am sure Valentines Day comes with a mixed bag of emotions, i have never not enjoyed it- even when i didn't have a Valentine. Here are some Valentines Day Inspired pictures:

Wedding Fun #2

The Valentines Wedding continues...
This next wedding is Bradley + Rachel who didn't post too many pictures but i fell in love with her hair piece so i had to post it. Her dress is very simple and Grecian like, it has just enough bling with the embellished jewels on the side. It looks like they got married in a forest or something. Take a look at their sweet wedding!

Wedding Fun

So as of right now I have no plans to get married, but that doesn't mean I can't look at all the pretty wedding dresses, decorations, couples, etc. Since it is a couple of days before Valentines Day I thought I would feature 5 weddings that I really enjoyed seeing pictures of, my favorite will be posted on, of course, Valentines Day!

Today's wedding is Sonya + Davey who got married in a really cute field and they had drinks served in jars and beautiful flowers. The pictures they shared were mostly of the details of their wedding not many of themselves. What was so beautiful was that at the party/dinner there were lights that outlined the dance floor, and it looked so nice at night. I love it!

Dressing for the Holidays

Untitled
I completely fell in love with this dress from Madewell. I thought it would be a perfect dress for the upcoming festivities (Happy 1st day of Hanukkah!) I kind of went a little crazy by adding the cheetah print coat- but I'm slightly craving one/ I needed an excuse to put it in. I also love the booties, although I doubt I could pull it off, and my mom probably wouldn't get them for me either- but they would look gorgeous on somebody. Even though the cold weather can be off putting at times and make us reach for sweats - we can still get dressy and look nice (once in awhile)!
More to come in regards to Gift Guides, Holiday Wear, and Holiday Spirit!

Gobble Gobble

Cupcakes for Thanksgiving
Every Thanksgiving my sister and I make a dessert this year we wanted to make turkey cupcakes. It is always a challenge for us to make, but we always make the best of it. This year we ran into a couple of problems: 1. we couldn't find the right ingredients (we went to two stores and couldn't find caramel jimmies, caramel frosting, and candy corn!) 2. the oven turned itself off- mid bake. 3. we made the cupcakes the night before, so when we put them into the refrigerator they got too moist, making it really difficult to frost the next day. Even with those set backs, they came out delicious. The cupcakes were pumpkin spice and we used chocolate frosting.

For some reason my camera won't let me import the pictures I had of the cupcakes assembled. They came out very good, but they were very temperamental to put together. My sister and I plan on making more recipes from the cookbook (mentioned here)

Five Things

Instead of my When I was Seventeen list, I am writing about the five things I am thankful for this year. Its important that we thank the people in our lives not just one day of the year, but everyday.

  1. My family: Mom, Dad, Sophia, and my dog Ricky
  2. Best friends: Justine and Nicole
  3. My education
  4. My health and the health of those around me
  5. My home

Holiday Gift Guide Part 1

The Holidays are just a month away and people are already gift shopping! I went to the stores on Sunday and they were packed, I thought people always procrastinate their gift shopping? Well, shopping early or late is always a daunting and sometimes frustrating task. Trust me, I had a hard time making this gift guide. But if it is any help at all, I'm glad. Almost Thanksgiving!
